What I Learned This Week - 5/27/16

  1.  567 days until Star Wars - Episode VIII is in theaters. 
  2.  “Drone Dog Walkers” are now a thing. #MyDogsWouldEatIt
  3. Netflix is the most commonly quoted item in High School year book senior quotes #Maybe
  4. I’m fairly certain that the interior of a leatherback turtles mouth is the inspiration for most horror movies. #BillionRowsOfTeeth
  5. Teens have the uncanny ability to combine things to make them funny or genius….like “breakfast popcicle”. 
  6. “Replacing-movie-guns-with-selfie-sticks” is my new favorite meme.
  7. Not everyone needs and inflatable toast mattress. #WarmAndCozy
  8. My kids don’t like me referring to snapping my fingers at them to get their attention when on the phone as “snap-chatting”.
  9. Penny, from the TV series, “The Big Bang Theory” (TBBT), has been using the same purse since the second episode.
  10. Sheldon of TBBT frequently wears shirts from the "Green Lantern" comic book series, the color will change along with the corresponding symbol, with each color representing a different corps of heroes or villains (e.g. Red Lanterns, Orange Lanterns, etc) - each color represents an emotion, giving a clue to Sheldon's temperament for the day.
  11. Researchers have found that people are more willing to disclose personal information if you make them laugh. 
  12. “Combat Juggling” is a thing.
  13. No matter what a 6th grader states, IHOP is not an acceptable dinner place. 
  14. Prosthetics inspired by video game weapons are now a reality.
  15. In the latest series of Marvel comics, it is uncovered that Captain America has been Hydra/Nazi spy all along. #LostFaithInHumanity
  16. Mountain goats are not truly goats, but members of the Goat-Antelope family.
  17. "Knocking on wood" is derived from Pagans touching, tapping or knocking on trees believing they were the homes of fairies and dryads who would wake and bless them with luck.

  19. China's consumption of disposable (single use) chopsticks needs 20,000,000 trees annually.
