What I Learned This Week - 10/26/14

  1.  419 days until Star Wars Episode VII is in theaters.
  2. There are only 50 unique words in Dr. Seuss’ “Green Eggs and Ham”.
  3. When in stand still rush hour traffic, it is possible to connect to adjacent cars Bluetooth with your phone and dictate commands at them, like "Stereo On". It’s also very entertaining.
  4. There are 29 new superhero movies scheduled to be released between now and the end of 2020. The “Swamp Thing” is not one of them.
  5. The Australian National University (ANU) have been able to move tiny particles no so tiny distances using nothing but a laser that emits light in a tube shape (aka hollow laser). Researchers believe this could be the precursor to actual working tractor beams.
  6. Prime rib is always worth it.
  7. Time-share-condo lobbies are the selfie capitals of the world.
  8. Maine has a longer shoreline than California, with 3,478 miles compared to 3,427.
  9. The hoverboards from "Back to the Future Part 2" are now real......but cost $10,000 and use electromagnets so they only work over certain metals. But they're real.
  10. One can actually purchase jewelry for contact lenses.
  11. The bacon cheeseburger filled donut is a thing.
  12. It’s a sign you’re getting old when bands you’ve never heard of are having reunion tours.
  13. I fairly certain my kids believe there is nothing funnier than watching me struggle eat – with half a numb face due to a dentist appointment earlier in the day.
  14. When Dentists state “this may hurt”, they really mean, “this pain will make your leg shoot into the sky”.
  15. The interval of time it takes between slipping on a banana peel and comically hitting the ground is one bananosecond.
  16. According to my middle daughter her heart goes ,"*Boom* *clap*" and this goes on and on and on and on and on..on.
  17. The majority of the time I’m smiling at my phone, it's because of something I wrote, not something someone sent me.
  18. Apparently "Clifford the Big Red Dog" went through a Goth phase.
  19. Queen Elizabeth II served as a mechanic and driver in World War II.
