What I Learned This Week - 1/30/15

  1.  321 days until "Star Wars - the Force Awakens" (aka: Episode VII) is in theaters.
  2. According to my youngest, flying first class means entering an aircraft while wearing a tuxedo.
  3. Whenever a radio announcer states the time - I have to verify it with the car clock, my phone or my watch – sometimes all three.
  4. Some people will pay $43 for a hot dog……I’m not one of those people.
  5. The addition of beets to my diet has made some bathroom stops…..interestingly red…..ish.
  6. A “bulldog” is a hot dog, wrapped in American cheese and an egg roll wrapper and then deep fried. 
  7. The world's largest BBQ pit can cook four tons of meat a time, is hauled by its own big rig...and is on auction on e-bay for a mere $350,000 with $3.58 shipping and handling (http://ebay.to/1L64a0Q ).
  8. "Haggis pops" are a thing.
  9. A professor of biochemistry at the University of California at Irvine has invented a way to unboil an egg….which is a bigger deal because the science behind it basically makes the processes for productions of most cancer drugs actually affordable.
  10. Many major global news outlets featured a “live New York City Snow Cam” on their websites, mostly featuring the busy Times Square intersection….because no one else in the world has EVER seen snow on a street.
  11. An entire galaxy is named after the secretion of a cow’s udder.
  12. Your shadow is a confirmation that light traveled approximately 93 million miles unobstructed, only to be deprived of reaching the ground in its final few feet by you.
  13. If I told my eight-year old self that when he reached my age there would only be eight planets he would have exploded with questions on the “great event” that led to it.
  14. Sometimes Jazz just happens.
  15. Computer technology has advanced to the point where the all of the basic functionality of desktop computer (minus CD/DVD rom and keyboard) can fit within the contents of your mouse (mouse-box.com).
  16. The “Za-Up-dawg” joke never gets old….especially when I play it on mmy wife.
  17. Apparently, the exercise using the thigh machine in the gym has the nickname, "good-girl, bad-girl".
  18. I'm only posting this so I don't get fined...
