What I Learned This Week - 7/1/16

  1.  531 days until Star Wars - Episode VIII is in theaters.
  2. “Robot-prepared-pizzas-cooked-on-a-delivery-truck” are a thing.
  3. My wife gets too much joy out of watching my engineering mind wrestle with important financial decisions for days on end.
  4.  Disney/Pixar created and registered a real tartan for the movie, “Brave”.
  5. If you suck up a harmonica in a vacuum cleaner, it sounds eerily similar to the Windows 3.1 start-up sound.
  6. Some clothing has “for worst results” care instructions in them. #ExtremelyFunny
  7. Han Solo was frozen at the end of “Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back” because they did not know if Harrison Ford would agree to do the next movie.
  8. When using Google Maps in “earth” mode, if you hold down the “ctrl” key on a PC, you can rotate in 3-d mode. #ThereGoes10Minutes
  9. According to my middle child hot air rises, but farts don’t come out of your nose because they are denser than air. #Fizicks
  10. Apparently I got into Mechanical Engineering for its public speaking opportunities. #NotReally
  11. Physicists proved that shooting "granny style" is the absolute best technique to consistently score points on the line, but NBA players refuse to do it because it looks stoopid.
  12. My daughter’s friends are not allowed to wear American flag shorts in my house because I refuse to salute their crotch. #InsertFlagPoleJokeHere
  13. All fire hydrant patents filed before 1836 were destroyed by a fire that burned the U.S. Patent Office to the ground. #Irony
